Welcome to the Teacher Resource Area!
This area will provide you with ways to incorporate CA - SBC into the curriculum and to assist you in grading student effort. Here you will find suggestions from teachers who have participated, such as sample marking schemes and peer evaluation forms.
If you would like to suggest a marking scheme or resource you feel would be helpful to other teachers, we would love to hear from you! Just email us at sbc@sprott.carleton.ca.
CA - SBC PowerPoint Presentation
If you would like a resource that you can use to present CA - SBC to your students or other teachers in your school, download the CA - SBC PowerPoint Presentation. It gives a basic overview of the history of CA - SBC, the benefits of participation, and how to play the game.
CA - SBC Peer Evaluation Form
Download this peer evaluation to have your students evaluate their team’s performance throughout the competition. This form can be used by itself or as part of the Participation Marking Scheme or the Between Firm Comparison Marking Scheme. It is available in both Word and PDF format.
CA - SBC Journal Entry Form
Have students fill out journal entry forms each quarter. This will help them organise their strategies, track their progress, and analyse why their firm is performing a certain way. The form is available in both Word and PDF format.
CA - SBC Between Firm Comparison Marking Scheme
This marking scheme is perfect if you wish to integrate a group project using CA - SBC into your curriculum. Students develop an objectives and goals report and also produce a final report on how well their firm performed and why. Teams are also evaluated based on how well their firm placed in the rankings on three different dimensions. The marking scheme is available in both Word and PDF format.
CA - SBC Participation Marking Scheme
This marking scheme is similar to the Between Firm Comparison Marking Scheme, but does not include the report elements. This is perfect for teachers who wish to use CA - SBC simply as a participation exercise in their class. The marking scheme is available in both Word and PDF format.
CA - SBC Accounting Ratios Worksheet
This resource was provided by Lucio Pavone, a participating teacher in 2003. Students must determine the financial ratios they learn in class and explain what they mean in the context of their firm. The worksheet is available in both Word and PDF format.
CA - SBC Performance Tracking Sheet
This resource was provided by Carol Allmendinger, a participating teacher in 2006. Students can use this Excel spreadsheet to track their firm inputs, the progress of their firm, and make market size calculations.
CA - SBC Predictions Worksheet
This resource was also provided by Carol Allmendinger, a participating teacher in 2006. Students are asked to examine their current market position and make predictions for their future performance. This exercise can be marked based on the predictions themselves and/or how close a team's results come to their predictions. The worksheet is available in both Word and PDF format.
